Scan2Return is a small free service with one narrow job: showing your contact details to someone who finds your keys. Please read this alongside our Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions.

We do not recover your keys

We are a notification tool, not a lost-property service, courier or insurer. We cannot find your keys, we cannot make anyone call you back, and we cannot promise that anything will be returned. Nothing on this site is a promise of recovery.

Location and scan information is approximate

The location we report for a scan is worked out from the finder's internet address. It can be wrong: mobile networks and VPNs can place a scan in the wrong city, or in a different country entirely, and a shared “precise” location is only as good as the device that reported it. A scan does not prove who scanned your code, that your keys are there, or that they have been found at all. It only proves that a page was opened.

Nothing here is advice

Everything on this site is general information about the service. It is not legal, security, insurance or financial advice, and it should not be relied on as a substitute for any of those.

Your details are public

Your QR code is meant to be read by strangers. Anyone who scans it, or who gets hold of the link another way, can see the contact details you have published. Do not list anything you would not be comfortable with a stranger seeing, and use an alternate phone number or an email address you are happy to publish. A deactivated key ring stops showing your details to new visitors.

Rewards are between you and the finder

We do not handle money, verify claims or enforce rewards. Be cautious: never send cash, bank details, transfer codes or one-time passwords to someone who has not actually returned your property to you in person.

Third-party services

The site relies on services we do not control: Google sign-in, hCaptcha, a geolocation lookup, an OpenStreetMap map image, our email provider and our host. It also links out to third-party sites such as WhatsApp, OpenStreetMap and telephone diallers. We are not responsible for what those services do, for their availability, or for their own terms and privacy practices.

Availability

This is a free service run in the spare time of one operator. It may be unavailable, may fail to send an email, or may change or stop without notice. Do not rely on it as your only way of being contacted about a lost item, and do not attach a Scan2Return QR code to anything you could not afford to lose.
